Breweries all over the country are always coming up with new and unique flavors of beer, but one local brew caught my eye this week. The Fareway store on Edgewood Road in Hiawatha posted a photo to Facebook on Wednesday announcing they are selling 4-packs of OREOja from Iowa Brewing Company in Cedar Rapids.

So, what exactly is OREOja? Iowa Brewing Company's website states that it is a Baltic porter with chocolate sandwich cookies and lactose, and it has a "rich chocolaty flavor with a creamy finish." It must be good, because the brewery took home a 1st place award for it in the Real Ale Contest at the Iowa City Northside Oktoberfest last year.

I don't know how I feel about an Oreo-flavored beer, but I'd be willing to try it! As stated above, you can purchase the beer for a limited time at Fareway stores, but I also noticed on Untappd that people have purchased it at Hy-Vee stores, too. If you have tried it or end up giving it a try, let us know your thoughts in the comments!
