Woman Pulled A Gun On a 7-Year-Old Trick-or-Treater
A woman down in Buda, Texas is in a lot of trouble after a harsh reaction to a child coming onto her property on trick-or-treat night.
Hays County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the home on Quarter Avenue where deputies say 35-year-old Monica Bradford pointed a firearm at a seven-year-old.
"I was in shock. It’s Halloween, there are kids everywhere, how can somebody just come out with a weapon and scare these kids," neighbor Connie Medina told Fox 7 Austin.
Neighbors said that Bradford had her porch light on, which made it look as though her home was open to the trick-or-treaters, as is tradition on Halloween night.
A father and his children entered the end of Bradford's driveway when things escalated.
The Hays County Sheriff's Office released a statement:
On October 31, 2021 at approximately 7:20 pm, deputies responded to 100 block of Quarter Avenue in Buda, Texas for a report of an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. After investigation, it was determined that a resident in that area was yelling at children who were walking outside her residence trick-or-treating. … [She] exited her residence with a loaded weapon and pointed it at a 7-year-old child who was walking in front of the residence.
"There were cops at the end of our street. They stopped us and said nobody’s allowed to go down this street, there’s an incident with a gun involved," another neighbor told Fox 7 Austin.
Police made contact with Bradford, who exited peacefully, but the officers were prepared for a bad situation to unfold.
"Some had guns drawn, some just had their rifles at the ready," the neighbor said.
Bradford was taken to the Hays County Jail, but neighbors told the news outlet this isn't the first time police have had to respond to her house.
The incident has stricken fear into other parents in the neighborhood, who are having second thoughts about trick-or-treat.
"I’m about to the point where I don’t even want the kids going anymore," Albert Anguiano, a resident in the area, told Fox 7 Austin.
Bradford is facing a charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and is out of the jail after posting $10,000 bond.
