Why Is Park Cedar Rapids Still Issuing Tickets?
The world is upside down right now. Schools canceled, people working from home, restaurants closing, the economy crashing and the world is on hold for the foreseeable future.
With that said, why is Park Cedar Rapids still issuing tickets in downtown Cedar Rapids? Who's decision was this and why is it still happening?
Most utilities companies are giving breaks, the rent's not due and there will be federal money coming down the pike. So again, I ask: Why is Park Cedar Rapids out writing tickets?
I get that parking tickets are a big money maker here in downtown Cedar Rapids. But people are going through a tough time right now. Wouldn't not issuing them be more helpful?
Wouldn't the people that are issuing these tickets be better served doing something else for the community during these trying times? I'm not trying to take their job away, but given what's going on right now in the world, I don't think this is a good use of resources.
The Park Cedar Rapids employees are being paid to fine the people in our community during a very tough time. It's just not right. They could be doing something to benefit our community right now instead.
And people are still going downtown for work or to pick up food to go. The last thing anybody wants to deal with is a $10 parking ticket for supporting a local downtown restaurant or showing up for work.
What do you think? Should Park Cedar Rapids still be on the war path?
