Traffic. No one enjoys it. But I think that for the most part, Iowans know just how lucky we are to live where we do. Try navigating the roads in a huge city like Chicago or Atlanta. Where your morning commute is over an hour-long even if you live just a few miles away! Yes, we have it good, and a new study from WalletHub confirms that it doesn't get better than driving in Iowa.

Yes, Iowa ranks #1 in the nation for the best states to drive in. WalletHub looked at many factors including cost of ownership and maintenance, traffic and infrastructure, safety, and access to vehicles and maintenance. Iowa ranked high in owner and maintenance at #5 and traffic and infrastructure at #7. We also scored high on road quality at #4 and rush hour traffic congestion at #6. Let's face it. Smaller cities mean less traffic congestion and rush hour issues. Compare your 15 minutes stuck on Collins Road to the hours spent stuck on highways in L.A. or New York City.

Overall, some U.S. cities didn't fare very well. The U.S. has four of the 25 worst cities for traffic in the entire world! And road quality varies greatly by city too. Out of 141 nations, the United States sits at #17 when it comes to the best roads. So as you buckle up and head to work or back home this evening, know that your drive is better than nearly everyone in the nation! Our roads are even 'Iowa Nice'!
