Why Didn’t This Yummy Iowa Festival Return This Summer?

The past few years have been amazing for pizza creators and lovers in the Hawkeye State. There was a festival that celebrated the craft and the taste of the food staple.

Pizza Fest in the District brought together pizza lovers, vendors, and chefs to Ankeny.

Pizza and food vendors from all over the state would come together for a day of pizza tasting and fun activities. They would also honor major players in the Iowa food scene for their delicious contributions and creations.

It's become a major achievement to be awarded the coveted Pizza Fest pizza peel. The festival is typically scheduled to take place in the early part of the summer, usually right around June or July.

The news came out several months ago, that this festival would be put on hold for the summer. There have been other events taking place at this location in Ankeny over the course of this summer.

The official ruling wasthat the organizers are "taking a break" from the event.

Des Moines officials have been bringing in a concert series event to that space this past summer.

"We have had a lot of questions surrounding 2023 Pizza Fest, so we wanted to let you know we are taking a break from Pizza Fest to bring new events to The District."
