After last year’s Montage of Heck and Soaked in Bleach documentaries, the persistent mysteries and conspiracy theories surrounding Kurt Cobain’s death will be further explored in a forthcoming graphic novel.

Who Killed Kurt Cobain? is slated for release this October via IDW Publishing; that’s the cover at the bottom of the page. Despite the somewhat sensational title, author and artist Nicolas Otero goes beyond Cobain’s final days and details the rise of Nirvana’s career from “the dark clubs of Seattle to the bright lights of the world stage… and all the angst, horror, and thrill that came with that ride.”

“I was 17 when Nirvana and Kurt Cobain came to Paris in 1992,” Otero said in a press release. “I saw them live the day before my graduation and it was… explosive, mind-blowing, sonic and so powerful. When Kurt put an end to his life in 1994, I remember hearing the name Boddah for the first time.”

In Otero’s graphic novel, Boddah is Cobain’s childhood imaginary friend who also serves as the story’s narrator -- a riff on Heloise Guay de Bellissen’s French novel Le Roman de Boddah. “I can finally draw this little voice and explore what I imagined Kurt’s mind and life were inside,” Otero said.
