Summer's not over, and there's still plenty of grilling to do.

If you think you have the chops to earn the distinction of Eastern Iowa's best BBQ rib expert, this contest is for you!

Families are invited to the BBQ Rib Cook-off at Ushers Ferry, 5925 Seminole Valley Trail NE to sample some delicious food on Sunday, September 22, from Noon-6 p.m.

Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation Department and the Cedar Rapids and Marion Masonic Lodges 6, 25 and 263 are sponsoring this new event. Admission is free of charge to get into the festival, with Barbeque meals, served from 2-5:30 p.m., costing $3-$8. Drinks will be available for purchase, so bring your lawn chair but not your own cooler.

Those who attend will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite cook.

There's also live music and entertainment, tours, demonstrations, and games.

We couldn't think of a better way to extend the summer fun, so learn more here and be there on September 22. Call Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation, (319)286-5566.
