[UPDATE] Sen. Ernst to Co Sponsor 9/11 Victim Fund Bill

Sen. Ernst this week agreed to join other lawmakers and cosponsor the 9/11 Victim Fund Bill.

The bill, S.546 - Never Forget the Heroes: Permanent Authorization of the September 11 Victim Compensation Fund Act is the Senate version of House Bill H.R. 1327 which is heading through the House and soon onto the Senate for a vote that, with bipartisan support, could be enacted into law with a majority vote.

If you've seen the recent video clips of Jon Stewart scolding members of Congress for their lack of support of the 9/11 Victims Compensation Fund, you may have wondered where Iowa's Senators Joni Ernst and Chuck Grassley stood on the issue.

Senator Ernst's office contacted us to say that she signed on just this week to cosponsor the bill.

As of this moment, Iowa senior Senator Grassley has not yet said whether he supports or does not support the bill.

The funding is for the firefighters, police and emergency workers who have fallen sick with various forms of cancer caused by the after-effects of the 9/11 tragedies.
