Nearly one month after the UNI women's basketball team completed the deepest postseason run in school history, Coach Tanya Warren has been rewarded for the Panthers' success.

Warren and UNI have agreed to a two-year contract extension that will keep her with the program through the 2026-27 season.

"I am extremely honored that our administration continues to entrust me to lead this program," Warren said. "I am blessed to be surrounded by amazing people and I couldn't be more excited as together we continue to strive for excellence both on and off the court."

Last month, the Panthers advanced to the semifinals of the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) after winning the Rockford Regional championship. UNI finished the year with a 17-13 record, including an 11-7 mark in Missouri Valley Conference play. The Panthers finished the season with a .500 or better record in league play for the 13th-straight time and they won at least 17 games for the 12th-consecutive time.

"We are thrilled to keep coach Warren on our bench for the foreseeable future," Director of Athletics David Harris said. "Our women's basketball team continues to compete at a very high level on the court and perform very well academically. Our student-athletes leave this program ready to lead and contribute in their communities."

In the classroom, the Panthers are among the nation's leaders. UNI has finished in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top-25 10 times during Warren's tenure. On the court, the Panthers have advanced to the postseason 10 of the last 11 years (excluding the COVID-19 pandemic-shortened 2019-20 season).

Warren is the winningest coach in program history with 260 victories. The Des Moines native has been named Missouri Valley Conference Coach of the Year three times during her career.
