It was celebration time in Iowa City and Des Moines early Monday evening. The Iowa and Drake women's basketball teams are headed to the 2018 NCAA women's basketball tournament!

On the strength of a 24-7 season, the Iowa women are the #6 seed. They'll play Saturday (3/17) afternoon at 5 p.m. central time, in Pauley Pavillion in Los Angeles, California. Their opponent is #11 seed, Creighton. The Blue Jays, from Omaha, Nebraska, play in the Big East Conference. Their record so far this season is 18-12.

Iowa is making its 25th NCAA Tournament appearance, and it's first since 2015. This marks Iowa's 13th NCAA appearance under coach Lisa Bluder, in her 18th season at the helm of the Hawkeyes.

The Drake women's basketball team is headed to College Station, Texas. The Bulldogs, 26-7, were both the regular season and tournament champions of the Missouri Valley Conference. They've won 21 games in a row heading into the first round tournament game. The Bulldogs, the 13 seed, will play #4 seed Texas A&M on their home floor. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 Friday afternoon. It's Drake's 12th trip to the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament.
