Fall is here. Camping buffs are getting set to close the tents, winterize their campers and pack away their gear for the season. A terrifying thought indeed. But before fall slips by, don't stow it away just yet.

With Halloween weekend just ahead, it's a spooky idea to think the colder weather is fast approaching. As the leaves begin to change color and make for some spectacular viewing, experts say you should "leave" them where they are (find out why here). So with all that extra time spent NOT raking leaves, here is your best excuse yet to rake in your last chance to enjoy some campfires, s'mores, and the great outdoors this weekend.

A press release from Linn County Conservation notes that your last chance to camp at their "modern campgrounds" is this weekend. These facilities will close for the season at 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 31.

Morgan Creek, Pinicon Ridge Park, and Manatee will remain open until that time, including the use of all utilities and water. The weather looks great as well, according to Iowa's News Now Weather First forecast. Mostly dry conditions and highs in the 50s. Include a jacket in your camping gear, but before the tricks of winter hit, make sure you take advantage of one last treat with the family. For information on camping and reserving your spot for the weekend, visit Linn County Conservation's website.

Buffalo Creek Park campground and Mt Hope at Matsell Bridge Natural Area have closed for the season. Matsell Bridge Equestrian Campground will close on November 15. Matsell Bridge Natural Area primitive campgrounds, Wakpicada Natural Area, and the Wickiup Hill Pack-in Campsite are available for year-round camping.

Meanwhile, there is still a chance to do some "glamping" (the more luxurious form of camping) at one of these luxurious rentals.
