After just two seasons, 'The Wave' is widely considered the best tradition in college football. At the end of the first quarter of every Iowa football home game, fans inside Kinnick Stadium wave to the kids and families across the street at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital. It's an amazing, emotional moment every time. Now, you can also show your support to those kids and families with a fun new event coming to Iowa City.

Saturday, May 11 is the day of 'The Wave 5k' to benefit the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital! Having done a radiothon each of the last 22 years to benefit the children's hospital, KHAK is proud to sponsor this inaugural event. It will be held on a non-competitive course at the Terry Trueblood Recreation Area in Iowa City. You can run, or walk the course and strollers are absolutely welcome.

'The Wave 5k' will begin at 10 a.m. with packet pick-up/registration starting at 8.

We'll also have trophies for the top individual fundraiser, fundraising teams, and top fundraising businesses. And, I think we'll have to have to all turn and wave toward the hospital, too. Sounds like fun doesn't it?!

The cost of 'The Wave 5k' is $35 for adults and $25 for youths, ages 9 to 17. Those 8 and under are free (does not include t-shirt). Register by May 1 to guarantee you get a shirt! Sign up HERE and get ready for the fun Saturday, May 11!
