If you're a listener to our show, you know that I am a Thanksgiving traditionalist. I love the holiday more than any other. I love gathering with family and friends and being thankful for all we have. I love football games in the afternoon. I love a nap while watching the game. And of course, I LOVE the food!

Everyone has their favorite Thanksgiving dishes and recipes. It was always very traditional for me growing up. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, corn casserole, and of course, pumpkin pie. It might have differed a little at your house, but I'm guessed there are some common dishes in there. But what are the most popular recipes for Thanksgiving in Iowa? Thanks to Google, we have some answers.

The results are broken down into two categories, savory and sweet. In Iowa, the most searched savory recipe is corn casserole. They should call my mom, her recipe is top-notch! Overall, turkey was the top choice of nine states. As for sweet recipes, the most searched in Iowa is...brownies? First of all, they aren't that hard to make, are they? Secondly, for Thanksgiving? Brownies tied with pumpkin pie! I would never have guessed. Pecan pie ruled in southern states.

No matter what you serve on Thanksgiving, what's important is being surrounded by family and being grateful for what you have. That's why I love the holiday so much.
