"You serious, Clark?"

Unless you've lived under a rock for the last 29 years, you no doubt have seen National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. It's one of the most popular Christmas movies of all time and THE number one most popular Christmas movie in the state of Iowa!

According to The Chive:

"CableTV.com wanted to find out exactly which Christmas movies were the most popular across the country. They checked Google Trends and AMC’s top Christmas movies to determine exactly what people are trying to watch all holiday season."

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation was the top choice for not only Iowa, but also Alabama, Missouri, Nebraska, and Tennessee. Here are some of the favorites in surrounding Midwest states:

  • Wisconsin - Elf (2003)
  • Illinois/Minnesota - Home Alone (1990)
  • South Dakota - A Christmas Carol (1984)

Other popular choices include Scrooged, Miracle on 34th Street, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and A Charlie Brown Christmas.

Only one state chose A Christmas Story, my personal favorite movie, as their overall favorite. I guess I should move to Montana!
