Bassist says the new group started recording together "just for fun."

"They were a little bit more straight-ahead, what Van Halen sounds like," bassist said of unreleased tracks.

Bassist takes over from Sammy Hagar at Circle show for "Runnin' With the Devil" and "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love."

Bassist briefly called up his ex-bandmate but also wanted to respect his privacy.

'It kind of bothers me because we had some issues that were never resolved,' says the bassist.

Wolfgang Van Halen says Van Halen had nothing to do with Michael Anthony being temporarily removed from two album covers back in 2007.

"It's very surreal now," says bassist. "It hasn't sunk in yet."

Guitarist's passing leaves former bandmates heartbroken and speechless.

Frontman says he was in Van Halen for several years before he and bassist really connected.
