Suspicious Iowa City Death Under Investigation
The friend of a deceased Iowa City man has told the Gazette that the victim was an employee of an Iowa City bail bonds office. Police have not yet identified the victim by name and are now treating the case as a homocide.
According to the Gazette, Brian Vakulskas, said the man is 34-year-old Jonathan J. Wieseler, a friend he’s known since middle school. Vakulskas said he learned about his friend’s death on Sunday from one of Wieseler’s relatives.
Iowa City police discovered Wieseler's body at his place of employment, Lederman Bail Bonds, 518 S. Capitol St., at 11:11 a.m. Sunday. Police now say the case is being handled as a murder and they continue their investigation. Police are asking anyone who might have any information to please report it to authorities.
Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of a suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 358-TIPS.
Brian Vakulskas described Wieseler as "a gentleman in the truest sense of the word,”
The saddest part of this story is that Wieseler was engaged to be married in June. This coming weekend was to be his bachelor party in Las Vegas, Vakulskas told the Gazette.
