With the weather getting warmer, the crime rate is heating up in Eastern Iowa.

According to KCRG, "The Iowa City Police Department is investigating a new report of shots fired in a year of increased calls."

The latest incident happened on Monday night near the 900 block of Cross Park Avenue. Officers responded to a call of gunshot damage behind a business. The business is located near Gilbert Street in Iowa City.

There were no injuries to report, just damage. We will continue to follow this story and provide updates as soon as more information is released.

Looking at the numbers, authorities in Iowa City say there're on pace to surpass all shots fired from the previous year.

The incident is now being investigated by the Iowa City police department.
