California Senator Kamala Harris announced her presidential bid on "Good Morning America" this morning. She'll officially kick off her campaign in her home town of Oakland next Monday, January 27 and then head to Des Moines for a town hall with Iowans on Tuesday January 28.

Campaign communications director Lily Adams told the Des Moines Register:

“Senator Harris loved meeting with Iowans and hearing their ideas while she was in Iowa campaigning for Democrats up and down the ticket in October. She's excited to continue those conversations by making Iowa her first stop after she launches the campaign in Oakland."

The town hall will take place at Drake University and is being hosted by CNN. The cable news outlet will film the event for broadcast and CNN's Jake Tapper will host and moderate the event. Campaign officials told the Register additional details about the event will be announced in the coming days.

Last week Iowa Governor Kym Reynolds asked Iowans to devote less time to online political arguments and more time to each other. I suggested, perhaps, if someone was committed to politics or a hot button political issues perhaps they get involved in a campaign, or at least the political process. Here's one of your first opportunities of the next election cycle to do just that! (You can read that blog here.)
