The world has become a crazy place including right here in Rockford, Illinois. You don't know what to expect or even what people are capable of doing. You've got to be very careful when dealing with other folks. One wrong word or hand gesture and they could lose it. Then all of a sudden you're in a dangerous situation.

The majority of the time when the authorities are talking about weapons, they are referring to guns. Recently, there have been a lot of incidents involving knives and victims being stabbed. I just read about an attack where a samurai sword was used.

A samurai sword isn't your typical criminal weapon. They're usually something you'll see in a movie about ninjas or that famous scene in "Step Brothers." Of course, that one was signed by Randy Jackson from American Idol.

A normal person might purchase one on vacation to hang on their wall as a decoration. It's not something a homeowner will keep under their bed for protection in case there's a break-in at their house.

Recently, in Rockford, a pair of friends got into an argument at the suspect's home. He ended up pulling out a samurai sword and cutting his buddy's arm. The police were called and when they arrived, there was the weapon sitting on the floor near a pool of blood.

The victim was taken to the hospital. He required surgery on the arm but will be okay. The attacker was arrested and transported to jail. Luckily, it wasn't super sharp because the arm could've been cut off.
