Sammy Hagar Announces New Fall Tour With the Circle
Sammy Hagar returns to the road with fellow Van Halen alum Michael Anthony this fall, as the Circle confirms a series of dates with Collective Soul. Dates kick off Sept. 10 in San Bernardino, Calif., and continue through Sept. 30 at Maryland Heights, Mo.
Together since 2014, the Circle is rounded out by Jason Bonham and Vic Johnson. A complete list of dates, cities and venues is below. Sammy's son Andrew Hagar is also slated as a special guest during the tour.
Rumors circulated last year that a full-fledged reunion of Van Halen's second lineup might be in the works, but this appears to be the closest fans will get for now. Hagar and Anthony later went on to co-found Chickenfoot, who released a long-awaited new song earlier this year. Bonham is the son of the late drummer John Bonham.
Their typical set lists, as heard on the live DVD At Your Service, include many favorites from the so-called Van Hagar years, including "Right Now" and "Finish What Ya Started," while also touching on songs from Hagar's tenure in Montrose ("Rock Candy") and as a solo artist ("There's Only One Way to Rock"). The Circle also make room for Led Zeppelin classics like "When the Levee Breaks."
Collective Soul, who are best known for songs like "Shine" and "December," will not be part of the Sept. 12 or Sept. 15 shows. They are at work on a new album which is set for release in early 2018.
