If you haven't seen your friends IRL for a while... it could be because we're living in the state most addicted to social media.

I'm not sure if reading this study makes me feel better or worse about all of the hours I spend looking at my phone. I'd like to say I'm not addicted to social media, but I know I totally am, and you probably are too.

Mattress Next Day decided to dive into social media addiction to find out why we are all having so much trouble sleeping... you guess it, our phones are majorly affecting our sleep habits.

How Much Time Do Illinois Residents Spend on Their Phones

Based on their survey, Illinois phone users spend about 4.15 hours a day on their phones, that's about a 1/6th of our entire day.

What are we doing on our phones all day? Well, communicating with our friends and family... just not in person.

Most Popular Apps in America

  • Youtube takes the lead in the app world Nationally, with users spending about 6 hours a day on the app.
  • Facebook is next, with just under 5 and a half hours a day, followed by the messages app, which I expected to be the most used app.
  • Instagram and TikTok account for almost 4 hours a day (each), followed by X (Twitter), Snapchat and What's App.

Mattress Next Day also reports that 68 percent of Americans use electronic devices before bed... yeah we know we're not supposed to, but it's so hard not to!

What do you do before you go to bed each night... I usually buy something I don't need on Amazon. Let me know through the 97ZOK Appchat.
