Registration Is Open for "The Great Iowa Fall Ride"

RAGBRAI (Register's Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa) returned with major fanfare this summer after being called off due to COVID in 2020.

Organizers are extending the RAGBRAI excitement into the fall. Registration has begun for "The Great Iowa Fall Ride". It's from the same people who brought you RAGBRAI but a different event from the one still being attempted as an alternative to RAGBRAI. It was a struggle for "Iowa's Ride" organizers to get their event going this summer after 2 years of planning, much of which was marred by the pandemic, but it happened as a shortened, weekend event the week prior to RAGBRAI this year.

The Iowa City Press-Citizen describes "The Great Iowa Fall Ride (Grown by RAGBRAI)" as a shorter, 37-mile ride starting on October 10, at the Cumming trailhead on the Great Western Trail. It will take riders through Water Works Park and around Gray's Lake and Easter Lake.

Registration is $60 and includes a beanie, keychain, slap koozie, and support on the route. Registration will increase to $70 on Oct. 1.

Oh, and there will be drink specials along the way for riders who show their wristbands, from Cumming Tap, The Chicken, Outskirtz Pub, Jethro’s BBQ Southside, Confluence Brewing Company and Mullets, with live music from our friends in The Pork Tornadoes (for registered riders only).

Additional information on their Facebook page touts it as an ideal opportunity to take in some of Iowa's fall colors and there's even a photo scavenger hunt you can participate in.
