Police Get Break in 1995 Mason City News Anchor’s Disappearance

Producers of the CBS Television News Show "48 Hours" say there's new information on the disappearance of Mason City television news anchor Jodi Huisentruit. This according to reports in the Des Moines Register and KWQC.

Huisentruit was an anchor for KIMT-TV in Mason City when she failed to show up for work on June 27, 1995 and no one has seen her since. Jim Axelrod, a senior national correspondent for CBS News and the reporter on the "48 Hours" story, tells the Register "we will certainly provide some new information, that's for sure." Axelrod also spoke to Mason City Police Chief Jeff Brinkley who told the reporter police are very close to a break in the case.

Interest in Huisentruit's disappearance has always remained high. This past May FindJodi.com, a website and community dedicated to solving Huisentruit's case, placed four billboards around Mason City reminding people about her disappearance and asking community members for information.

This weekend's episode of "48 Hours" on CBS will take a look at Huisentruit's disappearance. The episode will look at the last person thought to see Huisentruit, John Vansice, and explain why police have paid so much attention to him. Additionally the episode will include new information on the case, interviews with co-workers, the community looking to solve her case, and archival footage "48 Hours" shot for an un-aired episode on her back in 1995.
