According to the Iowa Department of Public Health, via KWQC, "From Friday to Saturday, 551 new cases of COVID-19 were announced."

The story also said that there were 9 additional deaths confirmed, accordign to the Iowa's official coronavirus page. That makes a total of 650 deaths statewide here in the state of Iowa.

On the other side of the coin, the KWQC article said that 14,357 Iowans have recovered from COVID-19. These numbers shows that COVID-19 can be very deadly to some people, but there is also a very high recovery rate for others.

I've had two friends hospitalized due to COVID-19. They both recovered, but it wasn't easy. One of them spent over 30 days at Mercy in Cedar Rapids. He's out now, but it was a long road to recovery.

Now that places are starting to open up, we need to remember to social distance and keep washing our hands. And if you're sick, please stay home. With everything going on in our world, it's easy to forget about COVID-19. But as you can see by these new numbers, it's still VERY serious.
