The Iowa Hawkeye's hosted top-ranked Notre Dame Wednesday night in Iowa City. Ally Disterhoft scored 18, but the Hawks fell to the Irish 73-58.

I was at the game last night, and I thought the Hawks looked great. It's not easy to play the best team in the nation. They hung with Notre Dame for most of the game and got within two points in the third quarter. Unfortunately, missed free throws and turnovers got the best of this young Iowa squad.

I really enjoy watching this team play. It's a great product and fun to watch. We're lucky to have a coach like Lisa Bluder in the state of Iowa. Win or lose, she always has a smile on her face and knows how to coach the game of basketball.

What I really appreciate about this team is how they interact with the fans -- Before, during, and after the game. For this Hawkeye team, the fans come first. Even after last night's end-of-game hand shake, the team turned to the crowd and waived as they left the court. Very classy, and not something you always see in collegiate sports.

Congratulations to Megan Gustafson who notched another double-double last night against Notre Dame. She had 16 points and 11 rebounds. Another solid effort by Megan.

Try and get to a game this season and cheer on the Hawks! For more information, check out www.hawkeyesports.com.
