An Oelwein woman faces a list of charges, for drunk driving, and crashing her car, with a child in the vehicle.


The incident happened Saturday (April 6), at about 5:15pm; the Fayette County Sheriff got a report of a one-vehicle accident in the 3,000 block of Rose Road,, just outside of Oelwein.

An investigation indicated that the vehicle was westbound on 35th Street, when it went off the road, into the ditch on a curve on Rose Road. No one was injured.

The driver, identified as 43 year old Amy Dahl of Oelwein, was allegedly driving drunk with a minor child in the vehicle.

Dahl was taken into custody on charges of Operating While Intoxicated, Child Endangerment, Assault On a Peace Officer, Interference With Official Acts, having an Open Container of alcohol in the vehicle, and Reckless Driving.
Damage to the vehicle, a 1995 Chevy Lumina, was minor.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Oelwein Police Department, Oelwein Fire Department, and Oelwein Ambulance.
