National Cattle Congress Fair in Waterloo is Canceled
Once again, we learn of another cancellation here in Eastern Iowa because of the Coronavirus.
According to KWWL, "Due to COVID-19, The National Cattle Congress has made the decision to postpone the 2020 National Cattle Congress Fair."
This was to be the 110th straight year of the fair at the National Cattle Congress. This event was always well attended and it's a bummer it won't be happening this year. Organizers are now planning for 2021, with September 15-21 as the dates for next year's event.
Organizers told KWWL, "The National Cattle Congress believes this is the responsible action to take in an effort to keep everyone safe during this ongoing COVID-19 pandemic."
The story also mentioned the plans are to bring back the rides, attractions, livestock shows and exhibits back in 2021. To read the full article, you can click on this link.
I spoke with Mary Hillman, a friend of mine who has been going to the fair for the last 40 years. She said, "It sucks, this something our entire family looks forward to each and every year. It's unfortunate, but we understand it's all about safety. You can bet we will be back next year!"
Let's hope that everything is different in 2021 and that we can get back to having events like this again. I feel bad for the organizers, and I hope they can start planning right away for next year.
