Muscatine, Iowa is about to become a cushy destination for travelers, thanks to some recently received recognition by the website TripAdvisor.

We Are Iowa says The Merrill Hotel and Conference Center, which was built in Muscatine just two years ago, is on the site's list of the Top 25 best hotels in the nation, coming in at #20.

The Merrill was cited for its extensive sanitation and safety practices, which include routine cleaning and no-contact bookings. Not to mention being a beautiful property with a "hospitable staff" that's part of the Muscatine riverfront.

Hotel general manager Lee Belfield said that winning the award amidst all the factors against the hospitality and travel industries right now makes the honor "that much sweeter". They were also ranked #1 in Iowa by U.S. News and World Report.

The Merrill's standing on these lists will benefit them as the continued development of housing, restaurants, and shopping in Muscatine grows, according to President and CEO of the Muscatine Chamber of Commerce Erik Reader.

The Merrill is in good company on TripAdvisor's list, recognizing coast-to-coast luxury big and small from New York, Florida and Delaware to Nashville, Colorado and Oregon, with several Langham-based hotels in Chicago making the Top 25 as well as the French Quarter Inn in Charleston, South Carolina, which earned the #1 spot. For the record, a number of Trump-owned hotels and resorts also made the cut.
