Get ready for grilled cheese, Coralville!

If you've ever spent a night out at the Ped Mall in Iowa City, then you no doubt know about Marco's Grilled Cheese. The Marco's food cart been THE late night snack destination in the area since May of 2000! Since then, the business has continued to grow and expand. In late 2019, Marco's opened its very first brick-and-mortar location at 117 N. Linn Street, and that was followed by the opening of a new private event space called Marco's Island at 121 N Linn Street. The owners of Marco's Grilled Cheese are also the owners of the Paco’s Tacos food cart, as well as George's Best Gyros, which opened a brick-and-mortar location in the spring of 2022.

Early in 2023, we got word that Marco's Grilled Cheese would be expanding outside of the Ped Mall! Two new locations were announced, including one in the old Pita Pit location at 517 2nd Street on the Coralville Strip. We're happy to report that it is open as of TODAY (June 15th)!

The second of the two new Marco's locations will be on First Avenue in Iowa City. According to an article from the Daily Iowan, both new Marco's locations will have similar hours to the one in the Ped Mall, which means they will be open for late-night cravings. The menus will also be similar to the original location, but slightly smaller "to be more streamlined and efficient.” There's no word yet on when the First Avenue location is set to open.

I wish Marco's would open a location in Downtown Cedar Rapids! For the latest updates from Marco's Grilled Cheese, you can follow the official Facebook page HERE.
