Man Reportedly Beat Roommate With Stick Over “What Mosquitos Look Like”
A Texas man charged with assault beat his roommate with a wooden stick after a late-night fight Sunday stemming from an argument about mosquitos, according to authorities.
Police in Dallas say 43-year-old Victor Symone Shavers attacked his roommate and left him bloody and in need of stitches, according to the affidavit.
Officers responded to a home at 2:42am Sunday morning to find Shavers' roommate outside "with a bloody face."
The roommate told police Shavers assaulted him right after they had an argument about "what a mosquito looked like," according to the police report.
Shavers said the roommate didn't know what mosquitos looked like, and the roommate argued that he did, in fact, know what mosquitos looked like.
It was then that Shavers reportedly "grabbed the stick from behind his bed" and started hitting his roommate “in the head with the stick at least 6 times,” the affidavit reads.
The roommate attempted to protect himself by swinging a baseball bat at Shavers, landing at least a blow on him.
By the time the assault was over with, the roommate suffered deep cuts on his cheek and left side of the head. Shavers had a cut on the back of his head, and a swollen right hand, which was possibly broken.
When officers arrived, Shavers admitted to responding officers that he struck his roommate first.
He's been charged with ggravated assault causing serious bodily injury and assault causing serious bodily injury, according to jail records.
Shaver's bond is set at $28,000 bond.
