Major Department Store Chain Closing at Westdale
The retail apocalypse continues, as a major department store chain has announced 47 store closings, including 2 in Eastern Iowa.
Younkers was one of the major anchor stores remaining at Westdale Mall when it redeveloped into a new shopping plaza, but will close its location there along with one in Cedar Falls.
Bon-Ton Stores, owner of Younkers, says the Lindale and Coralville stores will remain open. Liquidation sales will begin February 1, and employees at the stores being closed will be offered the opportunity to relocate.
