There are now more options than ever, including doing it yourself, for individuals and businesses looking for website hosting services, putting one local company who has been innovative in that process, in a position to adapt and make changes to its business model.

Two years ago, Hiawatha-based GoDaddy announced it was moving 134 jobs away from its 1 Parsons Drive location to Arizona. According to the Cedar Rapids Gazette, that now means a change in its physical location too.

According to the Gazette the website-building company will move to a smaller facility in downtown Cedar Rapids in 2023. In a statement, the company said

This move represents our need for a smaller space given fewer employees use the office daily

Part of that is due to those job transfers but also likely due to remote work becoming more prominent over the course of the coronavirus pandemic. GoDaddy's director of real estate, Kevin Crowder said

We are adapting in two ways. We are optimizing our office footprint globally. We are also using our offices with more intentionality, particularly when advantageous to collaborate and connect with one another in person

GoDaddy was founded by Bob Parsons, who sold his Cedar Rapids-based Parsons Technology financial software company to Intuit in 1994 for $65 million. As of now, the move to Cedar Rapids is not reportedly including any additional job cuts.
