[UPDATE June 22, 9:45 AM] The Linn County Sheriff's Department has identified the Sheriff's Deputy who was shot multiple times Sunday night as William Halverson. Halverson (above), is a seven-year veteran of the department. He remains hospitalized at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. He is in serious, but stable condition.

[UPDATE June 21 4:40 PM] The Linn County Sheriff's Department has announced Stanley Donahue (above) was arrested, without incident, near Highway 13 and Aldrich Road just before 12:45 p.m. Monday afternoon. Donahue has been charged with 1st Degree Robbery, Attempted Murder, Possession of Firearm as a Felon, Willful Injury, and Disarming a Peace Officer.

[UPDATE June 21 1:30 PM] Early Monday afternoon, the Linn County Sheriff's Department identified a person of interest in an overnight robbery of the Casey's in Coggon, and the shooting of a Sheriff's Deputy. The suspect was identified as 36-year-old Stanley Donahue of Chicago, Illinois. Shortly after, he was reportedly arrested.

KCRG reports that one of their crews saw Donahue walking along Highway 13, near Coggon. They say authorities were called, and the man has been arrested.

The updated release from the Linn County Sheriff's Department also says the deputy who was shot last night remains hospitalized in Iowa City and is in stable condition.

A Linn County Sheriff's Deputy who responded to an alarm call overnight is hospitalized with serious injuries after being shot multiple times. The Linn County Sheriff's Office is asking residents to keep their eyes open, as the suspect has still not been located. A description of the suspect is included later in this story.

According to a media release from the Linn County Sheriff's Department (LCSD), just after 10:15 p.m. Sunday night, June 20, the LCSD received an alarm call from the Casey's General Store on Highway 13 in Coggon (above photo of the scene via Iowa's News Now CBS 2). A Linn County Sheriff's Deputy responded to the call, and when entering the store, encountered an armed suspect who shot the deputy multiple times.

The injured sheriff's deputy was flown by Lifeguard to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City with serious injuries. The deputy's name has not been released.

Following the shooting, the suspect left the Casey's in a van, traveling north out of Coggon. Another Linn County Sheriff's Deputy who was responding to the scene chased the vehicle which crashed on North 3rd Street, on the north side of Coggon. The suspect then took off on foot. Law enforcement personnel from across eastern Iowa have been searching for the suspect, who has not been located thus far.

The suspect is described as a black male, in his mid-30s. He is between 5'10" and 6'2" tall, weighs approximately 200 to 220 pounds, and was wearing dark pants and a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt.

The search is ongoing. Anyone who sees anyone suspicious around the Coggon area is asked to call their local law enforcement or the Linn County Sheriff’s Department at (319) 892-6100.
