Kirkwood College Recieves Grant

According to CBS2, "Kirkwood Community College is one of three Iowa community colleges to receive a $360,000 grant from the Iowa Department of Public Health. The grant is for one year and designed to provide assistance for parenting and expecting students."

This is a great program that will help young people that are trying to balance a family while still getting an education. It's not easy to be a young parent and the financial pressures of both a family and college can be very stressful. Thanks to this grant, pursuing an education just got a whole lot easier for these people.

According to the Iowa Department of Public Health, "Nearly one-third of mothers age 24 or younger start school, but do not finish. Let's hope that number can change.
