Jaymz Reviews New Restaurant In Cedar Rapids

This week I tried a new restaurant in Cedar Rapids. It's called Edith Lucielle's Bait Shop & Wing Depot. It's located at 6913 Mt Vernon Road Southeast. I'll be honest, I was shocked when I walked in the place. The last time I was in this location, it was a seedy little dive bar that featured dollar draws and pickled gizzards. That's not the case anymore. The NEW owners have spent a lot of time and money fixing the place up. It's been given a complete makeover and it looks fantastic.

After much deliberation, I decided to order the Pulled Pork Sandwich. My meal came with a side of cottage cheese and coleslaw. This selection came highly recommended by the bartender, I'm glad I took her advice. It was a fantastic sandwich and very filling. The food only cost me $10.95. It's nice when you can get a great meal for an affordable price. Along with a couple of beers and a Vodka, I felt full, fat and happy.

I like that the menu is very simple. So many restaurants clutter the page with TOO MANY different choices. I also noticed they offer Deviled Eggs under the appetizer list. You don't see Deviled Eggs at most restaurants. They also feature Fried Green Tomatoes, I'll try both on my next visit to Edith Lucielle's Bait Shop & Wing Depot. I almost forgot, they serve breakfast and lunch, too. Check out the menu!

The establishment is owned and operated by Eric and Lynn Frantz. They have been working around the clock the last six months getting the place ready for customers. The kitchen manager is Jason Smith. Jason has decades of experience in the restaurant industry. When he's not "making the bacon," he is the lead singer in a Pantera tribute band, right here in Cedar Rapids. The boys took a break from serving their patrons for a quick photo.
