Restaurant Chains That Have Filed For Bankruptcy In Iowa
Many restaurant chains have filed for bankruptcy over the last couple of years. With the talks of a popular spot known as TGI Fridays also being rumored to be filling soon it hit me just how many of the spots I grew up going to are no longer in operation.
Since the pandemic more and more places have closed and filed for bankruptcy CNBC recently came out with a list of more restaurants chains filed for bankruptcy this year
- Roti - in a statement at the time of the bankruptcy filing. New investors helped it hold on, but the recent downturn in consumer spending led to insolvency.
- Buca di Beppo - The company blamed its financial difficulties on rising costs and labor challenges, according to court filings.
- World of Beer - World of Beer plans to restructure and end leases at underperforming locations through bankruptcy.

If TGI Fridays does file for bankruptcy that will be another for this list. The One in Des Moines is already closed for good.
Chuck E. Cheese
I honestly forgot about this one since there are still stores open, but it happened. You can see more here.
As of December 2023, Chuck E. Cheese's parent company, CEC Entertainment, is reportedly working with Goldman Sachs to sell the company.
Red Lobster
This one was a very recent one that you can see more of here.
Under Chapter 11 plan, Red Lobster will be acquired by RL Investor Holdings LLC, an entity backed by Fortress Investment Group
Sadly we will most likely see more of this over the next few years.
