Iowa, ISU, and UNI Football Players Still in the 2023 Portal
The transfer portal giveth, and the transfer portal taketh away.
Iowa, ISU, and UNI have both had some big names decide they want to play in Iowa City, Ames, and Cedar Falls. They've also had some big names leave, and others still working on what is next in their football future.
Even with Keagan Johnson (Kansas State), Deon Silas (Rhode Island), Jestin Jacobs (Oregon), and several others already making their decisions, there are currently 19 players from each of Iowa's three state schools that are still in the portal.
You'll find some names missing from the gallery of photos, but they'll be tagged on at the end -- don't you worry.
Iowa, ISU, and UNI Football Players Still in the 2023 Portal
As said at the top of the article, there are five other players that are also in the portal. Unfortunately, Getty Images doesn't have any of these players on file, so we had to exclude them from the gallery. They're included below.
Edge Jayden Gray, Iowa State
Played in five games a Cyclone between 2021 and 2022, registering one TFL. Was a three-star recruit out of high school. Currently has offers from Southern Florida, Old Dominion, Louisiana Tech, Akron, Sam Houston, and a barrage of FCS schools.
WR Tristan Michaud, Iowa State
A three-star receiver out of Quebec City in Canada, Michaud spent just two seasons in Ames, redshirting in 2021 and seeing action in one game in 2022. His only other offer out of high school -- according to 247Sports -- was from Eastern Michigan.
TE Elijah Yelverton, Iowa
Yelverton reportedly medically retired in March 2022 but entered the portal in December. He never saw action at Iowa after enrolling in the spring of 2020. Out of high school, he was a three-star recruit with offers from schools across the country including Oregon, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Florida, Penn State, Auburn, and others.
QB Carson May, Iowa
As of Tuesday, morning, fourth-string QB for the Hawkeyes Carson May announced he'd be entering the portal. Joe Labas started instead of May in Iowa's 21-0 win over Kentucky in the Music City Bowl. He was considered a three-star recruit out of high school, receiving offers from Iowa, Western Michigan, and Old Dominion.
