Looks like I'll be taking a road trip in early 2026...

Deviled eggs aren't a food that you typically find on your average restaurant menu. Until a few years ago, the ONLY deviled eggs I'd ever had were made by my mom (and they're still the best, by the way). But, as it turns out, there are quite a few restaurants here in Iowa that offer deviled eggs!

The Delicious Dozen

Recently, a local foodie influencer known as "The Iowa Gallivant" teamed up with the Iowa Egg Council for "an eggy road trip" that revolved around deviled eggs. The article, titled, "The Delicious Dozen: 12 Iowa Deviled Egg Destinations," includes restaurants from all over the Hawkeye State! Many of them serve classic versions of the deviled egg, while others have a more unique take. But, there was only one restaurant on the list that serves them DEEP-FRIED. Yes, you read that correctly: deep-fried deviled eggs!

The Som

So, where exactly can you order these deep-friend delicacies? The answer is Burlington, Iowa. Located at 863 Jefferson Street, The Som offers deep-fried deviled eggs on the "Som Shares" portion of their menu... although, I don't know that I'd be willing to share them. You can get six of them for $13. They look DELICIOUS!

The Som is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday & Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. You can read more about the restaurant on their website HERE.

99 Iowa Counties, 99 Delicious Iowa Restaurants

As it turns out, there are great places to eat in ALL of Iowa's 99 counties!

Each of the restaurants selected for this list has a Google rating of 4.5 stars or higher with at least 100 total reviews (when possible... some counties are VERY small!). While some counties only have a handful of places to eat, many have several highly-rated and popular restaurants. This list only shows one per county, so you may want to do your own research before visiting a new area!
