Iowa Animal Lovers Share Their Silliest Photos for National Pet Day [GALLERY]

When it comes to dogs, I definitely have a type. My friends have always told me that my type is "ugly," but I couldn't disagree more. I just love a goofy-looking pup with a lot of personality!

When I first saw Tater online, it was love at first sight. Not only is he a part pug, which is my favorite breed, but he also has the best smile. He's got all sorts of snaggley teeth that his lips often get stuck on, and it's my favorite thing in the entire world. I mean, how do you say no to this face?!

National Pet Day 2025

Friday, April 11th was National Pet Day, and in honor of the holiday, we asked Iowa pet owners on Facebook to send in their silliest photos. We got more than 150 submissions! Here are some of our favorites:

The Eastern Iowa Pet Expo

And speaking of pets, the Eastern Iowa Pet Expo is coming up this weekend! It will take place at the National Guard Armory in Cedar Rapids on Saturday, April 19th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free, but you're encouraged to bring donations of cat, dog, or rabbit food for local animal rescues.
