Iowa Star Running Back Kaleb Johnson Looks to the NFL [VIDEO]
It has been a historic season for Iowa running back Kaleb Johnson. He has proven to be one of the best backs in all of college football. Now, the Hawkeye has his sights set on the NFL.
Johnson announced on Sunday that he is forgoing his remaining season of eligibility at Iowa and declaring for the NFL Draft. The Iowa running back made a long, emotional announcement via social media, according to Hawk Central. Johnson ends the regular season with 1537 rushing yards and 23 total touchdowns. He set single-season Iowa records for points, total touchdowns, and rushing touchdowns. While Johnson had just 45 yards on the ground against Nebraska on Friday, his 72-yard touchdown reception will live forever in Iowa history.
So what comes next for Johnson? First, he is a finalist for the Doak Walker Award given annually to the top running back in college football. The big question for many fans is will Johnson play in Iowa's bowl game? Chances are the Nebraska game was Johnson's last in an Iowa uniform. He has cemented himself as one of the best backs in Iowa history and has a bright future ahead in the NFL. Thank you, K2 for one heck of a season, and LET'S GO HAWKS!
