The Most Popular LEGO Sets in Iowa & the Midwest [PHOTOS]

LEGO sets have really changed since I was a kid back in the 90s!

Earlier this month, MRO Electric published an article showing the most searched LEGO sets in all 50 states. Here's how they determined their data:

"we analyzed Google Trends search data from the past 12 months, comparing interest levels for the 50 best-selling Lego sets across all 50 states."

Let's see some of the sets that are getting the most attention!

Iowa's Top LEGO Set

According to MRO Electric's data, the most searched LEGO set here in Iowa is The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell™. It was also the top set in neighboring Wisconsin.

If you're like me and you've never seen any of the Lord of the Rings movies, Wikipedia says that Rivendell is "a valley in J. R. R. Tolkien's fictional world of Middle-earth, representing both a homely place of sanctuary and a magical Elvish otherworld. It is an important location in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, being the place where the quest to destroy the One Ring begins."

The Rivendell LEGO set includes 6,167 pieces, as well as 15 Minifigures, including the characters Frodo, Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf the Grey, and Legolas. The price tag? $499.99. And somehow, that's not even close to being the most expensive LEGO set available!

The Top LEGO Set Overall

If you look at the data for America as a whole, the most popular set overall is the Eiffel Tower. It was the top pick in 9 different states, including Illinois, Michigan, and Missouri.

The Eiffel Tower set is HUGE! It's over 4-feet-tall when completed, with a total of 10,001 pieces. The price for this one is $629.99.

Iowa's LEGO® Store

There's only one official LEGO® Store in the state of Iowa, and it's located over at Jordan Creek Town Center in West Des Moines. It opened its doors back in May of 2024. You can find the store on level one of the mall, right in between lululemon and Tempur-Pedic.
