Getting tickets to see the Hawkeyes in 2023-24 isn't going to be easy. Anyone who thought otherwise has already been proven wrong, and very quickly.

Tickets went on sale Wednesday morning, May 24 for the Iowa women's and men's basketball doubleheader at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines on December 16. It took less than 90 minutes to sell more than 13,000 tickets, everything available for the games again Cleveland State (women's team 30-5 last year) and Florida A&M (men).

Count Chris Connolly, the Iowa Events Center general manager, among those who weren't shocked by Wednesday's brisk sales. He told the Des Moines Register, "The Caitlin Clark effect is undeniable. Look, if you're a Hawkeye fan, what an opportunity... I don't know if there's a more popular person in women's sports than Cailtin."

Most of the tickets for the doubleheader were $30 to $75. As of today, tickets on StubHub are priced at least $75 each.

Deposits for 2023-24 season tickets for the Iowa women were suspended earlier this spring "due to overwhelming interest." Yes, tickets to see the Iowa women are going to be hard to come by next season. The complete schedule hasn't been released.

The Iowa men's basketball team has announced another game for next season. The Hawkeyes will take part in the Gavitt Tipoff Games. The game will be played in Omaha against a coach with a familiar face to basketball fans in the state of Iowa.

The Gavitt Tipoff Games features eight games between the Big Ten and Big East. It will be the first time Iowa and Creighton have faced each other since 2011. Iowa hasn't played Creighton in Omaha since 1999.

The Hawkeyes are one of just 10 programs to play in each of the last four NCAA Tournaments and return four players with starting experience. Creighton made the Elite 8 in this year's NCAA Tournament and returns three starters.

Iowa and Creighton will meet on Tuesday, November 14. The game time has not yet been announced. It will be televised by either FS1 or Big Ten Network.
