A First Look at the New Floor Inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena
When the Iowa men's basketball team reached the Elite Eight for the first time since 1987, they decided to take a souvenir home with them. The court. Yes, Iowa purchased the court used at the Houston Regional Elite Eight and is in the process of installing that court at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Now, Hawkeye fans are getting a first look at the new court.
Court Installation at Caver-Hawkeye Arena
Hawk Central reports that the parquet flooring will be removed from Carver for the first time since 1983. But Iowa has promised fans that the new maple wood court's overall look will remain similar, with a few new design elements.
One Logo Will Remain Exactly the Same
While the new floor was a necessity, not everything on the court will be new. One logo will go exactly where it was before. Hawk Central reports that the '22' decal that marks Caitlin Clark's 3-point shot that set the all-time NCAA scoring mark will be put exactly in the same spot as the old floor.
Who Will Play First on the New Court?
Hawk Central points out that the full 2026-27 basketball schedule for the Iowa men's and women's teams has not yet been released. The first games will likely come in early November.
