It may not be spring just yet, but that's not stopping us from getting our ice cream fix!

There are plenty of ice cream shops here in the Corridor that are open year-round, but there are some awesome seasonal ones that you can check out now, too! Here are some of the popular shops that have reopened or announced their reopening dates for 2026:

The Freeze

Located at 915 S 11th Street in Marion, The Freeze had its official grand opening for the 2026 season last Friday, February 20th. The weather wasn't exactly ideal for an ice cream shop, but that didn't stop Iowans from coming out!

For the time being, the Freeze in Marion is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Dairy Queen

The Mount Vernon Rd Dairy Queen in Cedar Rapids, one of the seasonal DQs in the area, is also now open for the 2026 season. Many of the "treat-only" Dairy Queen locations began opening their doors in late January/early February. The Mount Vernon Rd DQ opened on February 2nd and is open daily from noon to 8:30 p.m.

Pelican's Snoballs

They don't *technically* serve ice cream, but another popular summer treat spot is getting ready to reopen in Cedar Rapids this spring. Unfortunately, you'll have to wait a bit longer for this one. Pelican's Snoballs at 2702 6th St SW announced on Facebook that they are now hiring for the 2026 season, with a planned opening date set for Wednesday, April 1st. You can follow the Facebook page HERE for the latest updates.

Other Ice Cream Shops

There are still quite a few seasonal ice cream shops here in the Corridor that have yet to reveal their opening dates for 2026, including Kool Moo, Parlor City, Fruitzen Shaved Ice, and Dane's Dairy. We will be sure to update this article when more information becomes available!
