A Cedar Rapids restaurant that has been closed since suffering damage in a fire will reportedly reopen later this summer.

The Cedar Rapids Long John Silver's restaurant at 2630 Williams Blvd. SW has been closed since it suffered extensive damage in a fire on December 12th, 2023 according to the Corridor Business Journal. A quick Google search still shows the location as permanently closed. But the CBJ says that a company spokesperson is saying otherwise.

That spokesperson told the CBJ that the Cedar Rapids Long John Silver's is tentatively set to reopen in late summer 2024. Restoration and contractor vehicles have been seen at the building in recent months, and records from the Linn County Assessor's Office reveal work has been going on inside the restaurant since February. The CBJ reports that work is being done to replace drywall as well as the installation of new ceiling grids. The building was originally built in 1973.

The Williams Blvd. location is the only remaining Long John Silver's in the Corridor. A location at 3801 1st Ave. SE closed in June of 2014 along with 7 other locations in Iowa at that time. The CBJ reports that you can still find Long John Silver's in Clinton, Davenport, Des Moines, Council Bluffs, and Sioux City.
