Monday night's home game for the Indiana Fever featured some highs and unfortunately more lows. One thing fans did NOT want to see was #1 overall pick Caitlin Clark lying on the floor with an injury.

Clark suffered an injury to her left ankle in the second quarter of Indiana's game against the Connecticut Sun. The injury left her in visible pain and had to be helped to the Fever bench. Do you want to hear an arena go quiet? Clark would return to the bench but wouldn't play again until the second half.

Clark and the Fever have had a rough start to the season, but Monday night they played some of their best basketball of the season. Clark returned with a taped ankle and led the Fever to a second-half comeback that saw them take the lead into the 4th quarter. And a logo three from Clark had Gainbridge Fieldhouse ROCKING!

The shot gave the Fever a two-point lead. But it would be a lead that they could not hold, falling at home 88-84.

It has been a frustrating start to the WNBA season for Clark. The Fever have yet to win a game, but the teams they have played, the Connecticut Sun and the New York Liberty, are a combined 7-0, according to ESPN. She continues to be pressed and defended relentlessly, and the Fever continue to have problems with fouls and turnovers.

But Monday night, despite it all, you couldn't argue with effort. ESPN reports that Clark said that playing through pain is part of the game, saying "Every basketball player's had an ankle injury...if you haven't, you're not a true baller."
