A 16-year-old Iowa boy is in trouble after attempting to climb a TV tower on Thursday.

After hearing the story, you have to wonder if he got the idea to attempt the stunt from watching the motion picture "Fall" about two female thrill seekers who end up climbing a 2000-foot radio tower and then get stuck at the top after a series of unfortunate events happened along the climb.

If you have a fear of heights, it's not a movie for you.

According to Dakota News Now, police in Plymouth County, Iowa have arrested a 16-year-old teenager for attempting to climb to the top of a television broadcast tower.

Just after 11:00 AM on Thursday, (October 24) authorities received word that someone was in the process of climbing the KCAU TV tower near Sioux City, Iowa.

When authorities arrived at the scene, the young man had already climbed to nearly 1500 feet on the 2000-foot tower.

To ensure the teen got down safely, Dakota News Now reports that KCAU had to go off the air for a brief period to assist in the rescue effort.

A rescue crew was dispatched to the tower site to help the boy to safety. The crew had the teen down from the tower around 1:00 PM.

He is now facing felony trespassing charges.

Anyone who knows anything about climbing broadcast towers knows that professional climbers employ several different safety measures while climbing. They typically use things like a full-body harness, hard hat, gloves, carabiner clips, shock-absorbing lanyards, safety glasses, and a host of other protective items and safety protocols.

In my opinion, it takes a different breed of cat to do that job. My hat goes off to the men and women brave enough to climb TV and Radio towers for a living. It has to be one of the most dangerous jobs in America.

Definitely not a job for me. I get spooked when the barber jacks up the chair!
