While it has not yet been officially confirmed by the National Weather Service, Iowa's first tornado touchdown of the season has been a deadly one.

Early this morning around 1:30 a.m. near the town of Adair, a tornado destroyed a family home, killing one person and injuring another, believed to be in the house at the time.

Other nearby buildings were also damaged by the strength of the storm that roared through the central Iowa area of Adair County in the early morning hours.

It was also reported that a semi truck was said to have been flung into a ditch by the tornado.

CBS2 News says the National Weather Service is still studying the damage to confirm the tornado touchdown and level of intensity.
