A couple of weeks ago, the Iowa Pork Producers Association announced the five finalists in their 2021 Iowa's Best Breaded Pork Tenderloin contest. Those finalists included:

We are happy to report that a winner has officially been chosen! According to the association's official website, Victoria Station is the champion for 2021. The restaurant is owned by Richard and Angela Buman, who decided to revamp the restaurant's tenderloin after they purchased the place 18 months ago. The article reads:

"Each hand-cut, 8-ounce loin is tenderized three times, then coated in a blend of dry seasonings and marinated for at least an hour. The meat is dipped in a buttermilk breading and fried to order. Sandwiches are served with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles."

If you're feeling more adventurous, the couple recommends trying the tenderloin with garlic aioli and Texas toast. They also offer it "Buffalo style!"

Thanks to their finalist status, the Burmans have been serving a CRAZY number of tenderloins. They told the Iowa Pork Producers that they sold two months worth in just a week! And that number isn't expected to go down now that they've won. The article says that other winning restaurants have reported selling "five to 10 times more tenderloins in the first month, and double their normal number still a year later." The contest is obviously great for business!

The runner up for this year's contest is Larsen’s Pub in Elk Horn, Iowa. They actually won back in 2007, so it's not surprising to see them on the list again. You can read more about this year's contest and its contenders HERE.
