Iowa Wrestlers Make History
The second-ranked Iowa Wrestling team moved to 4-0 in the Big Ten and 10-0 overall with a victory over Northwestern, setting a school record in the process.
Iowa scored 54 points in their dual Sunday in Evanston, the most in a Big Ten dual in Hawkeye history, beating Northwestern 54-0. It broke the previous record of 53 scored against Illinois in 1992.
Iowa led 30-0 at intermission and scored bonus points in nine of the day's matches. They had five pins, one technical fall, and two forfeits (one due to injury). The only match Iowa didn't get bonus points in was at 165-pounds. Patrick Rhoads very nearly got bonus points too, winning 9-3.
Iowa's next dual is Friday night at Wisconsin. It begins at 8 p.m. and is televised by Big Ten Network.
